Be prepared to supply wood or propane if you are visiting. Many times there is propane or wood from previous guests, but we cannot guarantee there will be some left. The home is on a secluded private road with an "up North" feel, yet is within a short distance from the Fox River Mall, the EAA, The Outlet Shoppes at Oshkosh, the Performing Arts Center, the Timber Rattlers (farm team of the Milwaukee Brewers), many excellent restaurants, and multiple activities. It is also home to the historic Fox River Lock system that flows from the north end of Lake Winnebago down to Lake Michigan at Green Bay. This is our private family lake home located in a large bay on the S side of Neenah. We're a little over 3 hours from Chicago. The home is fully equipped and ready for guests. Even though it has an "up North" feel, it's about 10 minutes from major shopping, such as the Fox Valley Mall and many stores and restaurants in the Appleton area. It includes a 60' dock with a seating area. There is a launching area for kayaks or canoes on the property. Lake Winnebago is nationally-known for fishing and many tournaments. Currently available for EAA Airventure 2021! Prime Lake Winnebago location on a protected bay only seven miles from Oshkosh and ten miles from Fond du lac. This unique site boast seventy ft. lake frontage with a great pier plus 150 ft. of channel footage. Enjoy the sandy bottom swim area, patio, fire pit and the huge yard. The quiet neighborhood is perfect for leisurely strolls with lake and channel views around the entire point. The Space There are a few options for launching your boat nearby. Black Wolf public boat launch just south of the bay and Kalbus Camp has a launch with a fee. There is a concrete patio with a large picnic table. The yard off the lake are great for playing games and relaxing. The pier offers a great spot to fish and swim. This location is great fun for kids, but they need to be supervised at all times. The lake and the channel are wonderful but can pose risk to those who can't swim. Guest Access Guest have access to an in-seasons pier, as well as a washer and dryer. Although shown in picture the lift is inaccessible and will not be in the lake this year. There are no overnight tie ups to the pier. The lake can get very rough, damaging the pier and boat. {guests would be responsible for any damage to the pier} Guest Interaction Our family visits in the area from time to time so we are familiar with everything this location has to offer. Feel free to ask about entertainment options. We live an hour away so we can take care of everything over the phone/text. Neighborhood Overview The neighborhood, Point Comfort, is quiet with many year-round homes. The neighbors are great, so please remember to be respectful. The lightly trafficked roads are perfect for morning walks or bike rides with views of the lake. Getting Around If you bring a boat, you can enjoy taking a short ride to restaurants nearby such as TJ's and Wendt's. You can also head across the lake to Pipe, WI. There you can take in the views after climbing the observation tower before dining at Jim and Linda's Supper club. Take a ride up the Fox River to downtown Oshkosh to eat on the river front and also enjoy the Saturday morning Farmers market Other Things To Note There is parking for four cars, please take that into account on needing space for a trailer. There can be algae In Lake Winnebago. It can very with conditions though....if the wind is from a certain direction , was it a wet spring, etc. We very rarely miss a chance to swim but felt this should be brought to your attention.

The ice shoves are a fascinating natural phenomena if you are lucky enough to see them. The bedrooms and layout are perfect for large groups or multiple families vacationing together. There are 6 bedrooms on the second floor of the main house, and a 'mother-in-law' suite on the first floor of the 'north wing' (as we call it) to accommodate your group. Note that one of the of the bedrooms is a nursery off the master suite on the second floor. It does have a separate entrance and can be closed off to the master suite with a sliding door. Two of the bedrooms have trundle beds, two have queen beds, one has a full-size bed, and the remaining two have twin beds. This adds up to beds for 12, but more could be accommodated with an air mattress or two. There is also a large laundry room on the second floor. The home has a fascinating and unique architecture that features what is called a 'mansard' roof. This style was made popular in the French Baroque period and experienced a revival in the 1960s and 70s. The home was built in two phases in the 1940s and 70s, and the two floor plans come together an interesting, but quite pleasant way. Design features inside and out combine the use of exposed beams, tongue and groove, and brick for a very comfortable and warm feel. The main kitchen features an island and a breakfast bar for extra seating. 3 Ovens and two refrigerators make it ideal for feeding your large group, and the open concept means you can cook and entertain with great views of the lake. The kitchen opens up to a formal living room featuring a gas fireplace and grand piano. There is also a sunken formal dining room that ensures the views of the lake are uninterrupted. Off the dining room is a small enclosed patio with a vintage juke box containing some great 45s. From the dining room you continue into the North Wing (or the original 1940s cottage home) featuring a family room and a second fireplace. From there you can access the 'mother-in-law' suite and a den/office. There is also an original galley kitchen area in this part of the home that features an antique candy machine. Help yourself to any treats you find in the candy machine as our guests. This is a family home that we live in with our 5 children year-round. However, we love this property so much we wanted to share it with others when the opportunity presents.
